DINGLE (An Daingean)

Dingle is the most westerly town in Europe and is often referred to as the next parish to America. Piled high with majestic mountains and fringed with quiet unpolluted beaches this colourful holiday destination is a haven for walkers, golfers, surfers, sailors, sightseers and deep sea fishermen. The town offers a wonderful selection of bars and restaurants which make full use of the fresh seafood that is landed at the harbour each day. This is a Gaeltacht with something for everyone on Europes final Western Frontier.

Ceann Sibeal Golf Links in Ballyferriter (7 miles from Dingle), set in the splendid scenery of the Dingle Peninsula and overlooking the historic Blasket Islands, is Europes most westerly golf course.

Beaches
The Dingle Peninsula boasts some wonderful sandy beaches including the beautiful beach at Ventry and the massive Inch Beach.

Walking
The Dingle Way (153km/95 miles) circles the Dingle Peninsula from Tralee Bay to Inch Beach to Dingle Bay.

Located in Dun Chaoin, this heritage centre is dedicated to the history, language, culture and unique literary achievements of the Blasket Islands.

Gallarus Oratory Centre
Built in the 7th and 8th Century this is a remarkable example of an early Christian Church in Ireland which has survived over the centuries.

Dingle World of Leisure

THE GAELTACHT
This is the term used to refer to those areas of Ireland where the Irish language (Gaeilge) is still spoken as a community language and its cultures and traditions are very much alive and thriving. The Dingle Peninsula area of the Kerry Gaeltacht is known as Corca Dhuibhne and is renowned for its rugged beauty, rolling mountains, sparkling lakes, haunting woodlands and golden sandy beaches.

Kingdom Greyhound Stadium, Tralee Co Kerry:
Kingdom Greyhound Stadium is a three level multi-function complex with excellent facilities. The stadium is glass fronted and contains a Grandstand restaurant, lounge bar and fastfood facilities. There are two hospitality suites on level three which cater for group/tourbus bookings. Children have free admission so go on - Enjoy a fun night out with a difference every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday night all year round.

Muckross House Gardens And Traditional Farms, Killarney,
Muckross House is a magnificent Victorian Mansion and one of Ireland's leading stately homes. It is beautifully situated amidst the spectacular scenery of Killarney National Park, Ireland's Premier National Park.

The Muckross Traditional Farms are an authentic outdoor interpretation, on a 70 acre elevated site, of rural life in Kerry in the 1930's and 1940's. The Traditional Farms present an authentic environment and experience of rural life in the early part of the 20th century. Traditional buildings and field systems are recreated and domestic farming and craft practices are carried out daily during the visitor season.

Crag Cave, Castleisland

Crag cave is formed of limestone. It is a coulourful wonderland of stalagmites and stalactites. Discovered in 1983 and thought to be over a million years old, this natural, all weather attraction has dramatic sound and lighting effects.

A visit to Crag Cave will delight and enthrall all ages. The friendly guides will explain the origins of the cave and introduce visitors to a world older than mankind. There are a restaurant, gift shop and crazy play area on site.

Kerry Crafted Glass, Killarney
Go visit the only glassworks of it kind in Ireland, see the glassblower mould and blow each individual piece of glass using traditional tools. Kerry Film Festival
The Kerry Film Festival is Ireland's premier short film festival attracting film makers from all over the world. The festival takes place annually, in October, at locations throughout Kerry including Tralee, Killarney, Dingle & Listowel. Screenings have taken place in many diverse venues such as cinemas, art centres, interpretative centres, disused buildings, pubs, polytunnels etc. While the festival will feature full length films, workshops etc. the main event is a short film competition with awards presented by Ardmore Studios, Ireland. The festival holds a short script competition in association with the Cork Film Centre.

Puck fair,Killorglin
Puck Fair is one of Ireland's oldest festivals. The festival includes traditional cattle and horse fairs, as well as the coronation and dethronement of a goat. There are also hours of free family entertainment encompassing busking, parades, fireworks, street entertainment, day and night concerts.The Patrick O'Keeffe
